IE – Dublin – Win6 Migration 19/12/2009

Closed. As you may already know, the win6 server suffered a problem with its IIS configuration database recently, causing issues with some sites whilst we repaired the problem, those repairs were of a temporary nature intended to restore as much service as possible as soon as possible. In order to maintain long term service to the sites on this server we require to take it out of production and replace with a new production server.

This is scheduled to happen between 16:00 GMT Wednesday 19th and 02:00 GMT on the morning of Thursday 20th December, the win6 web sites will continue to be available up to 01:00 at which point the original server will be physically replaced by the new server. The switch is expected to take between 30 and 45 minutes.

We would ask customers to refrain from making changes to their control panel or site content during this maintenance window from 16:00 Wednesday, as this may lead to an inconsistent state between the control panel server and the new web server.

All site content as at 16:00 will be duplicated to the new server. All IP addresses will remain the same, as will all FTP accounts managed by the Control Panel. SQL database and email services will be unaffected.

We sincerely apologise for the short notice.
