If you have more than one monitor, you&#039;ll get multiple files on your desktop using the above method. If you have a massive monitor, you&#039;ll get a big file which probably shows more than you want.

Instead you can:
Press Cmd+shift+4 to get a cropping box to drag out to only grab an area of the screen.
or
Cmd+shift+4, then let go and press the spacebar. This makes a camera icon appear. Move it over the window you want to grab and click to just take a snapshot of that window rather than the whole / all screens.</description>
