RESOLVED: UK Derby – Shared servers service disruption

11:10: We are currently experiencing a few issues with a few of the shared web servers in our Derby data centre. The servers affected are dweb4.pipeten.co.uk, dweb16.pipeten.co.uk, dwin5.pipeten.co.uk and dwin20.pipeten.co.uk. Engineers are on site and currently investigating the issue. Updates will follow shortly.

11.20: The affected Windows based servers dwin5.pipeten.co.uk and dwin20.pipeten.co.uk should now be running as usual but engineers are still monitoring these closely and also working to resolve the issue with the Linux servers.

11:25: dweb16.pipeten.co.uk should also now be back online. Engineers are still working on dweb4.pipeten.co.uk.

11:35: The service for dweb4.pipeten.co.uk is also back to normal. Engineers are still monitoring the situation very closely to ensure there is not a reoccurrence.

12:35: Websites are running fine although engineers are still continuing their investigations to the earlier problem so you may notice some brief disruption as this is conducted.

15:00: There will be a short service interruption as servers are restarted for engineers to complete some brief maintenance.

16:30: Normal service continues, although it is still being closely monitored to ensure there is no reoccurrence of the earlier issue.

18:00: If you have any questions or notice any issues with your website please contact support via the usual methods.

Connecting to MySQL using Dreamweaver

In this tutorial we are going to show you how to connect to your Pipe Ten MySQL databases using Dreamweaver CS5.5 (this will also work with earlier versions of Dreamweaver).

In order to use the MySQL manager in Dreamweaver you will first need to setup your site with Dreamweaver’s site manager. We have covered this previously in this post.

Once your site is setup and configured this is how to add MySQL connectivity.

1. Open a new/or existing PHP page then open the databases tab. Window > Databases.

2. Click on the (+) button within the panel and select MySQL Connection.

3. Enter your MySQL details in as shown below. Remember to choose the correct MySQL server. These details can be seen within your control panel under, Databases > MySQL > MySQL DBS. For this example we are using dmysql.pipeten.co.uk

4. When the connection is successful you will see the message below.

5. Once Dreamweaver has successfully connected, you will see your database in the  database section as shown below. If you receive an error, double check your username, database and server address.

You will now be able to administer your MySQL database using Dreamweaver.

NOTE: These instructions are made for Dreamweaver CS5.5 on a Windows machine, they may differ from the version of Dreamweaver you are using.  Further instructions can be found in the Dreamweaver manual.
