How to setup POP or IMAP email in Windows Live Mail

This tutorial will allow you to setup your Pipe Ten mailbox with Windows Live Mail.

If you are using email, you should be using SSL

The secure ports for all email clients can be found below and should be used in combination with SSL:

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTPs): Port 465
Incoming Mail Server (POPs): Port 995
Incoming Mail Server (IMAPs): Port 993
Incoming/Outgoing Mail Servers:

A reminder on the difference between POP and IMAP and which may be more suitable for you can be found here.

  1. At the top far left, click the blue drop down menu, Options, Email accounts
  2. A new window should open. On the right of this box click Add.
  3. Choose Email account as the account type and click next
  4. Enter your full email address, password and Full name. Ensure “Manually configure server settings” is ticked.
  5. Here you will need to enter your account information.
    • Tick Requires a secure connection (SSL)
    • Authenticate using Secure password authentication
    • Logon username is your full email address
    • Tick requires authentication

    Server Type:

    Select either POP or IMAP

    • Incoming mail server:
    • Incoming mail server ports:
    • POP
      Secure = 995
      Standard = 110
      Secure = 993
      Standard = 143

    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
    • Outgoing mail server ports:
    • Secure = 465
      Standard = 25
      Standard Alternative = 587

  6. Click next, you should see a success message.

Your Pipe Ten email is now setup with Windows Live Mail.
