Windows 8 Mail App

OS_Windows_8In this guide we are going to walk you though setting up your Pipe Ten mailbox within the default Windows 8 mail app.

Please note the Windows mail app does not support POP mailboxes, just IMAP. Read about the difference between POP and IMAP here.

If you are using email, you should be using SSL

The secure ports for all email clients can be found below and should be used in combination with SSL:

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTPs): Port 465
Incoming Mail Server (IMAPs): Port 993
Incoming/Outgoing Mail Servers:

  1. Click the Mail tile in the Start screen to open the Mail program.1
  2. In the Settings menu, click Accounts.
  3. Under Accounts, click Add an account.
  4. Under Add an account, click Other account.

  6. Select IMAP , click connect.

  8. Place the following in each entry
    • Incoming & Outgoing mailserver:
    • Email address: Your full Pipe Ten email address, e.g
    • Username: Your fill Pipe Ten email address, e.g
    • Password: Your mailbox password
    • Untick Incoming server requires SSL
    • Untick Outgoing server requires SSL
    • Tick Outgoing server requires authentication
    • Tick Use the same username and password to send and receive mail.


  9. Click Connect. That’s it. You now have your Pipe Ten mail IMAP mailbox setup in Windows 8 mail.
