Control Panel MySQL


How to setup and configure various aspects of MySQL in your control panel.


Creating Databases

To create a MySQL database:

  1. Navigate to Databases > MySQL > MySQL DB Wizard
  2. Within the Name of database section set a name for your new database. A description can also be placed in the box below for future reference. Click Next.


  3. Please Note: New MySQL databases are created with the username_ prefix, where username is a unique identifier that contains either first letters of the name of an account under which this database is created, or that account name’s first letters and a unique number if there are several account names starting with the same letters. This is done to prevent the creation of databases with the same name under different users.

  4. Agree to any charges if there are any.
  5. Within the form either create a new user or assign a preexisting one to it.
    • To add a new user: Fill in the details and press the Add user button.
    • To add an existing user: Select the user and role and press the Grant button.

    Please note: In most cases you will want to use a Long, PHP5.x-only password & set the user role to dba.


Deleting MySQL Databases

  1. Navigate to Databases > MySQL > MySQL DBs.
  2. Select the Red Cross on the domain you wish to delete
  3. Click the Yes, I agree with the above link.

Changing MySQL Disk Quota

  1. Navigate to Databases > MySQL > MySQL DBs.
  2. Select the database your wish to change the quota for.
  3. Click the Edit icon in the quota section.
  4. Set the new Quota and click Submit.
  5. Agree to any additional charges.

Adding MySQL Users And Granting Them Privileges

Adding a new or existing user to an existing MySQL database:

  1. Navigate to Databases > MySQL > MySQL DBs.
  2. Select the database your wish to add a new user to.
  3. Select the Add button in the Database users section.
  4. Fill in the new user details and press the Add button.

Changing User Privileges

  1. Navigate to Databases > MySQL > MySQL DBs.
  2. Select the database that your user is assigned to.
  3. Click the first edit icon for the user you wish to change permissions for.


  4. Each user role involves a fixed set of privileges on this specific database:

    Role:

    Set of privileges:

    read

    select

    read/write

    select, insert, delete, update

    dba

    select, insert, update, drop, create, alter, index

  5. Select the relevant permissions you wish to apply to your user and press the Submit button.

Changing User Passwords

To change user password in the MySQL database:

  1. Navigate to Databases > MySQL > MySQL DBs.
  2. Select the database that your user is assigned to.
  3. Select the second Edit icon.
  4. Input the new password and confirm it. Select the Long, PHP5.x-only radio button and press the Change button.

Updating the MySQL hash length

  1. Navigate to Databases > MySQL > MySQL DBs.
  2. Select the database that your user is assigned to.
  3. Select the second Edit icon.
  4. Input your password and confirm it. Change the radio button from Short, compatible with all PHP versions to Long, PHP5.x-only and press the Change button.

Editing MySQL Databases with phpMyAdmin

  1. Navigate to Databases > MySQL > MySQL DBs.
  2. Select the database you wish to edit.
  3. Select the Built in phpMyAdmin control panel link.

  4. Follow the instructions of the phpMyAdmin control panel to edit your MySQL database.
