Softaculous Guides


Softaculous can be used to easily install different CMS’s on your domain with the minimal setup.


Accessing Softaculous

  1. Navigate to Domain Settings > Domain Info.
  2. Select the domain you wish to install a CMS on.
  3. Click the Edit icon in the Web Services field.
  4. Select the Softaculous Setup Page icon from the Softaculous Applications Settings field.

Installing a CMS using Softaculous

  1. Search for the CMS from the left hand search box.
  2. Select the Install Now Icon.
  3. Choose the protocol you wish to use with the domain.
    Note: If you do not have an SSL certificate you will want to use either http:// or http://www.
  4. Select the directory you wish to install the CMS to. In most cases you will want to remove the default input to install the site to the root of the domain.
  5. Add your Site Name and Site Description.
  6. Add the Admin Username, Admin Password, & Admin Email.
  7. Select the default language for your domain.
  8. If desired, customise the database name and prefix.
  9. If you wish to auto upgrade the CMS Install/Plugins/Themes, tick their respective boxes.
  10. Add an email to send the installation details to if desired and click Install.

Upgrading a CMS version using Softaculous

  1. From the top right, select the All Installations icon.
  2. Press the Upgrade button for the out Installation you wish to upgrade.
  3. If you wish to maintain a backup of the current site before upgrading, tick the Create Backup checkbox. Press Upgrade.

Cloning a website using Softaculous

Note: The domain you choose from the control panel is the domain which will receive the cloned content.

  1. From the top right, select the All Installations icon.
  2. Press the Clone icon for the domain you wish to clone.
  3. Choose the protocol you wish to use with the domain.
    Note: If you do not have an SSL certificate you will want to use either http:// or http://www.
  4. Select the directory you wish to clone the CMS to. In most cases you will want to remove the default input to clone the site to the root of the domain.
  5. Alter the database name if you desire.
  6. Double check the clone installation details and click Clone Install.

Backing up a website using Softaculous

  1. From the top right, select the All Installations icon.
  2. Press the Backup icon for the domain you wish to backup.
  3. Tick the relevant boxes to backup the Database and/or web content and make a note if needed.
  4. Double check the backup details and click Backup Installation.

Downloading a backup using Softaculous

  1. Select the Backups & Restore icon from the top right hand corner.
  2. Click the Download Backup icon next to the relevant backup.

Restoring a website using Softaculous

  1. Select the Backups & Restore icon from the top right hand corner.
  2. Click the Restore icon next to the relevant domain.
  3. Select the relevant tickboxes for the aspects of the site you wish to restore and click the Restore Installation button.
  4. Click OK at the browser prompt.

Removing a website using Softaculous

  1. From the top right, select the All Installations icon.
  2. Select the Remove icon next to the domain you wish to remove.
  3. Select the relevant checkboxes for the content you wish to remove.
  4. Click the Remove Installation icon.
  5. Press the OK button at the browser prompt.
