IE – Dublin – Email Performance – 9.15am 10/07/2007
Closed.
We are suffering a serious email service performance degradation due to the level of concurrent connection requests being 4 times higher than peak. Performance is slowed, but the mail cluster is online and working.
Our engineers are working on this at the moment and this post will be updated as soon as we have more details.
Update – 9.49am: The problem has been identified as a packet loss issue for large packets on our core router. This massively slows down POP3 connections – as connections cannot be cleared quickly due to the packet loss, the number of concurrent connections builds up. We have increased the max number of connections, which is helping to a limited extent, so you should be receiving mail faster. We are still working on resolving the packet loss issue.
Update 2 – 10.31am: The service is returning to normal, please allow a short period for mail queues to be cleared.
